Shona Dion is running for council because she believes our neighbourhoods deserve real agency in addressing the many crises we are facing, from housing security and affordability to climate resilience and community safety. Her goal is to restore that power to communities and uplift the people already doing the work.

As a member of the North Jubilee Neighbourhood Association and a past Victoria Labour Council table officer, Shona has  spent years building stronger, more connected communities from the ground up. Those who know Shona will tell you she's an exceptional listener, and she knows that real change starts with hearing people and engaging in meaningful dialogue.

Shona brings a rare combination of governance and grassroots experience. As a benefit plan trustee, job steward, and executive councillor, she has years of hands-on experience thinking collectively, managing budgets, negotiating on behalf of others, and holding fiduciary responsibility to the people she represents. That same collaborative approach shapes how she works in her neighbourhood. She recognizes that community is often messy, and building consensus takes patience, humility, and a genuine desire to work together.

As a working mother, Shona understands the everyday pressures families face, and she brings that lived experience alongside her formal training in governance, communications, and negotiation. She sees herself as a bridge between community and labour, bringing people into the conversation who are too often left out of it.

Alongside her advocacy work, Shona is a photographer who donates her time and creative eye to community groups working on social justice, inclusion, and environmental causes. For her, this isn't separate from her political work; it's an extension of the same belief that guides her advocacy work:
